COMMENTS:
Class starts 11 October 2019. A hearing dog, Harley, will be present at all times.
We are a group of 10 Adults ranging from their 20s to 80s years of age who are, or live with someone who has lost or is losing their hearing. The purpose of the group, is to share our experiences being deafened in our community, and with the help of our Teacher, Tom Kane, work out strategies and try and manage our deafness through lipreading exercises, discussion, talk about available resources and support, we also invite agencies to come and talk to us about how they could support our community.
The session is always friendly, we welcome anyone who is interested in understanding the issues behind losing ones hearing and how to manage our deafness, in all situations
Tom the team leader is severely deafened, and has a hearing dog and provides the resources to run each session, he is always empathetic to anyone who has been disabled by hearing loss, of any level.
